Here are all of the details about the options available to you during registration. If you have questions, don't hesitate to e-mail us at soiree@ashevillecontra.com or use the "Contact" link in the menu above. We try to cater to both the out-of-town dancer as well as the local Asheville dancer. All events, housing, and meals are a short walk from each other, and you can purchase the options that work best for you. Once registration opens, here's the magic button:

Dance Registration and Cost
No transaction fees.
Dance registration includes all dance events, workshops, and snack breaks. Registration is on a first come first, first served basis. Each dancer must register individually. To help ensure a safe and respectful environment for all attendees, every registration is placed on a wait list and reviewed prior to confirmation. You will receive one e-mail when you complete the registration form and one e-mail when your space is confirmed. Payment is either by Venmo or by credit card entered directly on the registration site. Sorry, but we are not accepting checks.
In 2019, this dance sold out - FAST! Don't delay!!
Dance events and workshops will be held both in Bryson Gym and the outdoor Morris Pavillion on the campus of Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, NC about 10 miles east of Asheville, NC (See Location and Weather information below for exact details). Bryson Gym is not air conditioned, so please bring your own re-usable water bottle. The college requires all dancers to provide the name and phone number of an emergency contact. Please provide that information on the registration form.
The general schedule for the weekend is:

Friday June 14th

4:30 pm - Check in opens. Dancers can start arriving. (No dinner is provided Friday night. See Meals)

7:00 pm - Open waltzing with Playing with Fyre

8:00 pm - First contra dance

Sunday June 16th

3:00 pm - Last contra dance ends, say good-byes, and head for home

A detailed schedule will be published when available.
We will need help throughout the weekend with various tasks (setup, snack prep, sweeping, dinner help, clean up, etc). If you're interested in volunteering, please indicate your availability during registration. You'll be contacted by our volunteer coordinator prior to the event. You can also subscribe to our mailing list now and express your interest in volunteering. Thanks!
Tickets are not transferable. If you must cancel, please contact soiree@ashevillecontra.com as soon as possible. We will offer your ticket to the next person on the wait list. If your registration has been processed and confirmed, your ticket will be refunded up until Friday, June 7, 2024 less a $25 administrative fee.
Housing
Meals
For out of town dancers, a housing option is available in the dorms at Warren Wilson. You can choose either a private room or a 2-person shared room. If you choose a shared room, you can indicate either your preferred roommate or be paired with a roommate. If you have special circumstances that should be considered when assigning rooms or roommates, please leave a message for our housing coordinator when you register.

There is absolutely NO CAMPING and NO SWIMMING on the Warren Wilson campus.
If you wish to purchase meals at Summer Soirée, you have two options.

Meal plan: The meal plan covers five meals. Saturday breakfast & lunch, and Sunday breakfast & lunch in the Gladfelter Dining Hall a short walk from Bryson Gym. Saturday dinner will be catered by 12 Bones Smokehouse in the Morris Pavilion also a short walk from Bryson Gym. On the menu will be ribs, chicken, vegetarian sides (mac & cheese, green beans, slaw, potato salad) plus cobbler and cookies.

Just Saturday dinner ONLY: if you choose, you may purchase just the Saturday catered dinner and be on your own for breakfasts and lunches.
Note that Friday dinner is strictly on your own.
T-shirt Pre-Order
T-Shirts will be available for pre-order on the registration form up until May 1st, 2024. If you want to be guaranteed a T-shirt, please order before then. There will be limited availability (if any) at the dance.

You can view a full campus map here. Closer to the date, we will provide additional information about check-in, parking, etc. All activities, housing, and meals are within a short walk of each other.
Asheville summer weather can be quite variable. It's a good idea to bring some rain gear (light jacket, windbreaker, or umbrella) to accommodate any weather when walking between the dance venues, dorms, and dining hall.
